We are seeking a motivated Mental Health Therapist to join our team and provide community-based mental health services to adolescents within the Frederick County Public School (FCPS) system. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with students, their families, and school advisors, providing vital support and therapeutic interventions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate (\(32 - \)40, based on licensure and experience)

Skills

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health, Counseling, or Social Work
  • Appropriate Maryland state licensure (LGPC, LMSW, LCPC, LCSW)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Strong understanding of treatment planning, clinical notations, dual diagnosis charting, mental health diagnoses, and intervention skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with adolescents (12 and up) and their families
  • Adaptability and a genuine motivation to improve clients’ lives

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and/or family therapy sessions.
  • Facilitate mental health group sessions.
  • Complete thorough mental health clinical assessments.
  • Collaborate with school advisors to provide coordinated care.
  • Complete timely documentation in our electronic health record (EMR) system.
  • Provide services in the home setting as needed.
  • Manage time effectively, including responding to crisis intervention needs.
  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanor during crisis situations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of licensed experience in addiction treatment and/or mental health counseling.
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic group and individual sessions with adolescents (12 and up).
  • Ability to pass local and federal background checks and a full-panel drug screening.
  • Full COVID vaccination with the ability to provide proof upon hire.

Education Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health, Counseling, or Social Work.

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • Required licensure in the State of Maryland.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of licensed experience in addiction treatment and/or mental health counseling.
