EAC Network is seeking a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Behavioral Health Specialist for the Family First Prevention Services Program located in Suffolk County, NY. This part-time role offers up to 28 hours a week with possible weekend work. The Behavioral Health Specialist will collaborate with CPS and preventive services caseworkers to identify and address the behavioral health needs of adults and children affected by substance abuse.

Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and database software
  • Strong understanding of the Department of Social Services system

Responsibilities

  • Become knowledgeable about the CPS process and requirements
  • Accompany CPS and preventive caseworkers in the field to visit families
  • Carry a caseload and conduct home visits to assess home environments
  • Conduct screenings for early identification of substance abuse treatment needs
  • Assist in developing and monitoring plans of safe care for affected infants
  • Provide clinical assessments and documentation for the CPS process
  • Utilize local resources for referrals to ongoing services
  • Conduct drug screenings as necessary
  • Maintain documentation of home visit communications
  • Participate in ongoing trainings and quarterly case reviews

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology, or a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields AND a CASAC
  • Knowledge of the Department of Social Services system
  • Valid New York State driver’s license and access to an automobile

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree and CASAC credential

Experience Requirements

  • Experience working in behavioral health or related fields is preferred
  • Familiarity with CPS processes and preventive services is a plus
