The Engineering Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the Engineering Maintenance department, including direct supervision of IATSE Maintenance Technicians and daily management of Master Control Hub/Spoke automation technology. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining all broadcast equipment and systems to ensure efficient, fault-tolerant, and error-free operations. You will provide oversight for the design, construction, and preventive maintenance of broadcast facilities while ensuring on-time, satisfactory completion of assigned projects within established budgets.

Skills

  • Strong leadership abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate technical staff and collaborate with various station departments.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD software.
  • Knowledge of television transmitters and RF facilities.
  • Understanding of current Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Strong IT/IP knowledge base, especially in digital audio/video over IP transport.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of the Engineering Maintenance department and IATSE Maintenance Technicians.
  • Oversee development, implementation, and maintenance of broadcast equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC, EAS, and OSHA regulations and internal company policies.
  • Prepare departmental expense budgets and oversee three-year Capital Improvement plans.
  • Devise and implement methods to streamline operations and reduce on-air errors.
  • Maintain working knowledge of critical support systems such as emergency power generation and HVAC.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in broadcast engineering and management.
  • Proficiency in digital broadcast systems, including UHF transmitters, encoding equipment, and storage technologies.
  • Strong follow-through, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years in a broadcast engineering role or similar management position.
  • Strong working knowledge of digital broadcast systems.
