The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in assisting doctors during invasive cardiovascular procedures, including cardiac catheterization. This technician is an essential member of the healthcare team who performs tasks with a patient-centered focus. Skills

  • RCIS or ARRT certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Competency in sterile technique and IV access
  • Ability to operate and ensure quality control of cath lab equipment
  • Knowledge of Holter monitor procedures
  • Emergency therapeutic maneuvers during procedures

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician with cardiac catheterizations
  • Prepare for procedures, including scrubbing and setting up the instrument table
  • Administer medications under physician supervision
  • Operate equipment used in the cath lab and ensure its quality control
  • Monitor and report hemodynamic status during procedures
  • Perform emergency procedures as per ACLS protocol
  • Ensure availability and functionality of supplies and equipment

Qualifications

  • 6+ months of Cath Lab experience
  • Critical care experience
  • RCIS certification preferred; AART with experience acceptable

Education Requirements

  • Relevant certification in cardiac catheterization or a related field

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • RCIS or ARRT certification

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a Cath Lab setting
  • Experience in critical care is advantageous
