Skills
- Lived experience of recovery from behavioral health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders
- Ability to assist individuals in recognizing their capacity for resilience
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect with clients and the community
- Ability to assist clients in making independent choices and proactive roles in their treatment
- Capability to identify strengths and personal resources in clients
- Valid driver’s license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required.
Responsibilities
- Share lived experiences of recovery and support the use of recovery tools
- Help individuals connect with other consumers and their community
- Support individuals in developing a network for information and support
- Assist in identifying individual strengths and setting recovery goals
- Participate as a member of the treatment team, providing input on client wellness plans
- Complete necessary trainings and certification process within 60 days of hire
- Assist clients with transportation as clinically indicated; driving is an essential function of this position.
Qualifications
- Must self-identify as a current or former consumer of behavioral health, substance use, or co-occurring disorder services
- Completion of a state-approved training program and passing a standardized examination
- Certification as a Certified Peer Specialist through the MCB (MO) required when applicable.

- High School diploma or GED required
