This position will serve as a Subject Matter Expert on clinical data and electronic health record systems, acting as a liaison between health care providers and the Health Information Exchange (HIE) to enhance the quality of data sent to the HIE. Responsibilities involve utilizing Mirth Interface Engine, Intersystems HealthShare Health Insight, HealthShare Clinical Viewer, and SAS technologies to support the North Carolina Health Information Exchange Authority. The primary goal of this role is to ensure reliable and accurate data analysis, assisting NC HIEA’s staff in developing and implementing projects to meet established goals and objectives.

Compensation and Benefits

  • W-2 Rate up to $55/hour
  • 1 year Hybrid Contract

Skills

  • Understanding of healthcare IT architectural principles, technical designs, and specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly with non-technical clients
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • SME level knowledge of clinical data, EHR, HL7 v2, and C-CDA messages
  • Experience with electronic health record data, especially ADT
  • Ability to run and modify basic SQL queries
  • Proficient in analyzing and documenting processes and developing clinical workflows
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare regulatory compliance related to EHR systems and HIE
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools, including Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Understanding clinical data flow within Intersystems HealthShare and EHRs
  • Knowledge of relational databases and business enterprise systems
  • Experience in developing training materials or end user reports based on clinical data trends
  • Direct clinical or clinical application experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining data quality guidelines and processes
  • Monitor processes and tools to improve data quality
  • Track all Data Quality work via tickets in the NC HealthConnex ticketing system
  • Respond promptly to reported data quality issues
  • Collaborate with participants and vendors to enhance data quality
  • Attend data analyst, project, staff, and other meetings
  • Report project progress and results to staff as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with electronic health record data
  • Preferred experience with Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) data
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on healthcare data

Education Requirements

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or IT-related field
