This role is responsible for assisting the Clinical Nursing Director and the Professional Development Director, in conjunction with the needs of the staff nurse, in the planning and delivery of direct patient care for an assigned unit/group. The role utilizes the nursing process and adheres to the standards of nursing practice. The Clinical Instructor assists in translating the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the hospital and nursing service into effective action, ensuring accessibility to the nurse in direct care.

Under the guidance of the Professional Development Director, the Clinical Instructor upholds and drives the standard of practice within their respective units, as set by national and professional organizations, and current evidence-based practice. This role ensures that competencies for all staff are validated within their defined practice areas.

The overall goal is to foster the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that enhance practice, contributing to patient safety and quality care. The Clinical Instructor evaluates current clinical knowledge, technical skill proficiency, and critical thinking application by nursing team members, leading the implementation of measures for practice improvement.
