We’re looking for a Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our Commercial Underwriting team! In this role, you’ll evaluate and process commercial insurance applications, ensuring they align with our product and coverage guidelines. Your work will help drive new business while maintaining a profitable and growing portfolio.
As part of a collaborative team, you’ll work alongside underwriters, technicians, and agents to support business objectives. Occasional field and overnight travel may be required to visit agencies, often in partnership with our Marketing and Loss Control teams.

Responsibilities

• Review and process commercial insurance applications, ensuring they meet underwriting guidelines and corporate objectives.
  
• Maintain high service standards and stay informed about commercial products, pricing, and coverage options.
  
• Apply underwriting guidelines, authority levels, and industry best practices to achieve quality and profitability goals.
  
• Communicate and negotiate effectively with agents, policyholders, and internal teams.
  
• Assist in training and mentoring new underwriters and underwriting technicians.
  
• Use various systems and tools to support overall business objectives.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  
• Prior experience in commercial underwriting within a Property & Casualty insurance carrier is highly preferred.
  
• Industry certifications such as General Insurance (AINS) or higher-level designations (CPCU, AU) are a plus.
