Description

The Critical Care Technician (CCT) supports the Registered Nurse in performing delegated tasks associated with the acute care of patients. This role focuses on providing age-appropriate care in a culturally and ethically sensitive manner. The CCT reports directly to the Nurse Manager of the assigned unit as well as to the RNs on duty during each shift.

Responsibilities

• Assist Registered Nurses with delegated tasks related to patient care
• Successfully complete a skill competency checklist validated by a Registered Nurse
• Maintain effective communication with nursing staff regarding patient needs
• Participate in orientation and training sessions for critical care procedures
• Provide care in accordance with ethical and cultural standards

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required
• Successful completion of Critical Care Tech course or equivalent within the first 6 months of hire
• State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required or must be enrolled in a nursing program
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification required within 90 days of hire

Education Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a nursing educational program is preferred

Education Requirements Credential Category

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a nursing course satisfying the Wisconsin administrative code requirements

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of one acute care nursing medical/surgical clinical rotation required
• Prior monitor technician experience preferred but not required
