Skills
3 to 5 years of experience in customs brokerage
Background in freight forwarding and import logistics
Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs compliance and regulations
Experience in U.S. importation processes
Proficiency in filing entries containing Partner Government Agency (PGA) information
Experience in accurate and timely ISF filings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
Accurately enter customs data for import shipments
File Importer Security Filings (ISF) for all ocean shipments
Assist in product classification for customs brokerage shipments
Handle in-bond entries and bonded shipments
Support the import department with high-volume shipments
Perform audits and reviews on brokerage files and customs payments
Properly classify commercial invoices using the US Tariff Book and CROSS reference tools
Enter import Automated Manifest System (AMS) data and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers, transmitting to U.S. Customs
Prepare and process entry documentation, including forms 7501 and 3461
Specialize in remote location filings
Maintain compliance with import regulations and documentation requirements
Arrange deliveries and invoicing for import accounts
Ensure ISF filings are submitted at least 72 hours before shipment departure from the last origin port
Prepare delivery orders, coordinate with trucking companies, and follow up on Proof of Delivery (POD)
Process documents through the Automated Broker Interface (ABI) system and obtain necessary releases from Customs and other government agencies
Monitor and respond to Customs rejections and requests for information
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
3 to 5 years of experience in customs brokerage
Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs compliance and regulations
Experience in accurate and timely ISF filings
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred but not required
Education Requirements Credential Category
Relevant certifications in customs brokerage are a plus
