Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid understanding of child development
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Current Infant/Child CPR First Aid Certification
  • Completion of Mandated Reporter Training

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the teaching team to plan and implement educational activities based on Developmentally Appropriate Practices and Vermont Early Learning Standards
  • Create activities that foster children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth
  • Maintain open communication with families to support children’s well-being and progress
  • Ensure adherence to all policies and state regulations
  • Foster a healthy, welcoming classroom environment in alignment with state regulations and ITERS/ECERS standards
  • Keep accurate records of observations, curriculum, and assessments

Qualifications

Candidates should meet one of the following qualifications:

  • A Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three (3) Certificate; or
  • An Associate degree from an accredited college in Early Childhood, Child Development, Elementary Education, or related fields, with at least 12 months of experience working with children; or
  • Completion of a Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program; or
  • A Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont with 12 months of experience working with children; or
  • Successful completion of 21 college credits in early childhood or school-age education and 12 months of relevant experience.

Education Requirements

Must meet Vermont State Regulations for a Teacher Associate.

Education Requirements Credential Category

High school diploma or GED required.

Experience Requirements

At least 12 months of relevant experience working with children is required.
