As the first line of response, the System Status Controllers (call taker/dispatcher) will handle emergency calls from the public and dispatch the appropriate EMS resources using advanced computer-aided dispatching systems (CAD), incorporating medical priority dispatch software and mapping/GPS technology. Communication with ambulances and other public safety agencies is facilitated through digital radio and telephony equipment.

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to emergency calls from the public

• Work shifts as required to ensure ²⁴⁄₇ coverage

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a call center is an asset
• Emergency Medical Services experience is preferred
• Training in paramedicine or other relevant medical training is a plus
• Successful applicants must pass a satisfactory police Criminal Records check and a clear Child and Adult Abuse Registry check at the time of hire
