Skills

  • Strong understanding of database structures, data warehousing concepts, and data lakes
  • Expertise in data modeling principles and best practices, focusing on relational and dimensional modeling
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Redshift and data modeling tools (ER Studio preferred)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based architecture and AWS environments
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Knowledge of metadata management and object-oriented/domain-driven design
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support enterprise analytics
  • Integrate multiple data sources—including Oracle/PeopleSoft HR, Finance, and Workday—into a structured and coherent data catalog
  • Work with analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into effective data models
  • Conduct gap analyses and cost/benefit/risk assessments to optimize data model designs
  • Ensure all data models adhere to design and security best practices
  • Perform data profiling and analysis to maintain high data quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate metadata into tools like Collibra and Tableau
  • Provide walkthroughs and support to EAP consumers and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in a relevant role (e.g., Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or Business Intelligence Analyst)
  • Experience gathering and analyzing data, reports, and business requirements
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work in a team environment

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Systems

  • Bachelor’s degree

Experience Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in data modeling or a related role
  • Experience working with higher education data and reporting is preferred
  • Background in migrating legacy applications and data systems to modern platforms is a plus
