Snohomish County Fire District 17 is forming an eligibility list for entry-level career firefighter/EMT positions. Candidates must complete a FireTEAM test administered by the National Testing Network, which is valid for up to one year, and possess a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) completed within the last 12 months. Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list utilized by Snohomish County Fire District 17.

Candidates are required to complete the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) accessible through their NTN candidate account. This must be submitted by the closing date to be considered further in the process.

All testing and certifications must be completed by 12:00 p.m. on August 2nd, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to fire alarms and medical emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Operate firefighting and emergency medical equipment.
  • Assist in the training and development of new team members.
  • Complete reports and documentation as required.
  • Participate in community outreach and education programs.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Certification as a Washington State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) or NREMT with ability to obtain Washington State EMT certification within one month of employment.
  • Possess IFSAC Firefighter I and IFSAC Hazardous Materials Operations certifications, with the expectation to obtain IFSAC Firefighter II certification within one year of full-time employment.
