Hood River Fire & EMS is seeking to hire one (1) Firefighter/Paramedic (Entry Level) position, starting approximately on April 1, 2025. This role involves being part of a team that has been serving the community since 1904, providing full-service fire and EMS, including ambulance transportation. Candidates will be required to complete a FireTEAM written examination and a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) valid within the last six months.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: \(30.72 - \)34.57 Hourly (includes 9% paramedic premium)
  • Monthly Salary: \(7,475 (entry-Step 1) - \)8,412 (Step 5)
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the FireTEAM written examination and CPAT

Qualifications

  • Age: 18 years or older
  • Citizenship: Proof of ability to work in the U.S. is required
  • High School Grad/GED: Yes
  • Additional education: Preferred but not required
  • Necessary Certifications: Oregon Paramedic certification by the start date, ACLS and PALS certifications

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-high school education preferred but not required

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • Academy Certification: No

Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience: None required
  • Must possess NFPA Firefighter I (or equivalent) upon appointment
