Description

The City of Coos Bay is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Firefighter/Engineer. This role involves performing a variety of firefighting duties, including combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires, providing emergency rescue services, and conducting fire prevention inspections. Candidates must register as firefighter candidates through the National Testing Network (NTN) and complete required tests prior to consideration for the application pool.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range: \(67,356 - \)85,980

Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED certification
  • Valid Oregon Class C driver’s license
  • Oregon EMT (or higher) certification
  • DPSST/NFPA Firefighter I certification
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is desirable
  • NFPA Firefighter II and NFPA Pumper Operator certification required within one year of hire

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED certification
  • Additional certifications as specified in the qualifications section

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • Firefighting and Emergency Medical Services certifications

Experience Requirements

  • At least two years of full-time paid firefighting experience preferred for lateral candidates
  • New candidates must complete NTN Fire Team test and physical abilities test
