Our firefighters operate under the South Cook County EMS System and play a critical role in emergency response, public safety, and community service. Compensation and Benefits

• Starting Salary: $81,345
• Salary after 3 years: $95,366

Skills

• Illinois State certified Paramedic (required at hire)

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and provide medical assistance

Qualifications

• Must be between 21 and under 35 years of age, unless permitted by Illinois State Statute
• U.S. citizenship required
• Valid driver’s license required

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required

Education Requirements Credential Category

• Paramedic certification (required at the time of hire)
• CPAT card with ladder certification (valid within 6 months of hire date)
• Successful completion of the Illinois Firefighter Basic Operations Course

Experience Requirements

• No specific college education required
• Military DD214 submission (if applicable)
