Skills

• Valid Illinois EMT-Paramedic license or willingness to obtain within first 18 months of employment.
• Strong physical fitness and ability to complete required physical testing (CPAT and Ladder Climb).

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire and emergency medical service calls.
• Perform fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services.
• Maintain readiness of firefighting equipment and vehicles.

Qualifications

• Must be between 21 and under 35 years of age at the date of hire (exceptions apply).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification of having passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Aerial Ladder Climb test.
• Must be a resident and legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.

Education Requirements Credential Category

• Additional points for an associate’s degree in fire service or emergency medical services; bachelor’s degree may receive four (4) points.

Experience Requirements

• Employment by municipality as paid-on-call or part-time certified Firefighter II may receive preference.
• No prior experience is strictly necessary, but it is advantageous for scoring in the hiring process.
