Description

The Histology Technician prepares histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists under direct supervision. Responsibilities include handling frozen sections, paraffin mounts, and cytologic preparations along with the relevant stains. The technician assesses the adequacy of surgical and cytology specimens and requests additional samples if necessary. Routine maintenance of instruments is performed as directed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institute with a minimum of two years of experience in histopathology - OR - Associate’s degree in biology or related field with a minimum of one year of experience in histopathology
  • Registered HT, ASCP or equivalent, or eligible
