Job Duties and Responsibilities: Join our dynamic team as a Professional Physician Coder, where you'll play a pivotal role in our hospitalist coding service line. Your responsibilities will include: Reviewing medical records and accurately coding physician services using the latest ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems. Coding various elements including diagnoses, co-morbidities, complications, procedures, supplies, and medications, ensuring compliance with relevant coding guidelines. Ensuring billable physician services meet federal "Physician at Teaching Hospital" rules through meticulous review of physician documentation. Identifying and reporting any documentation issues or trends to management for evaluation and follow-up. Collaborating with specialty team members to track financial goals and contribute to corporate objectives. Assisting the Central Business Office in maximizing reimbursement through thorough follow-up on patient accounts, including insurance denials. Maintaining effective communication with physicians, coding team members, and management, fostering a collaborative work environment. Utilizing available resources to support accurate coding practices and uphold patient confidentiality. Demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills. Achieving and maintaining a 90% accuracy rate in coding tasks. Attending scheduled departmental meetings and providing data for production reports. Serving as a mentor and providing support to junior team members. Providing management support as needed. Must-Have Skills/Qualifications: 4-5 years of certified coding experience in professional or physician practice settings. Experience in either Bariatric or Trauma specialties. Proficiency in specialty surgical coding, with experience in multi-specialty surgical coding preferred. Certifications: Must hold at least one of the following certifications: CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Work Hours: Initially 8 am - 5 pm EST, with flexibility based on performance after training.
