As a Floater Infant and Toddler Teacher, you will support teachers in fostering a nurturing environment that encourages the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and linguistic development of infants and toddlers. You will help ensure that each child’s learning environment is organized and safe while providing responsive caregiving to promote growth. Your role will involve assisting with age-appropriate classroom management, building meaningful relationships with families, and laying a strong foundation for children’s development and school readiness. Flexibility is key, as you will be assigned to different classrooms based on the center’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Head Start Program Performance Standards, state licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Foster professional relationships with staff and families while respecting diversity.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by following safety protocols and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Support teaching staff during breaks and maintain a clean, organized classroom and playground environment.
  • Monitor health and safety on the playground and report any concerns promptly.
  • Assist with daily routines and engage in meaningful interactions with children.
  • Help with food services, inventory, classroom laundry, and daily cleaning tasks.
  • Attend meetings, training, and professional development to grow in your role.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must agree to enroll in and complete a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential program upon hire.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • A valid Driver’s License, personal vehicle, and liability insurance are required.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 2 years of recent, successful experience working in a childcare or preschool setting is preferred.
