Skills

  • Proven experience in resolving a wide range of computer user issues
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with IBM AS/400, OS/400, UNIX, Intel platform, database concepts, and networking protocols
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, cabling, wireless)
  • Ability to support administrator-level functionality across operating systems
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask effectively

Responsibilities

  • Manage the startup, monitoring, and shutdown of computer systems using various control consoles
  • Continuously monitor system performance to maintain operational standards and contribute to improvements
  • Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve issues swiftly and minimize business disruption
  • Assist in developing and updating Operations Procedures and Manuals to reflect changes effectively
  • Oversee the backup schedule and ensure tapes are rotated for secure offsite storage
  • Provide first and second-level support for all systems, escalating issues as necessary
  • Conduct remote control of servers and desktops during troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software service calls
  • Resolve trouble tickets promptly and in line with Service Level Agreements

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience of at least four years in an IT environment
  • Familiar with Incident Management and Response
  • Ability to support administrator-level functionality across operating systems
