The Nuclear Waste Program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Lead Hydrogeologist (Hydrogeologist 5) position. This position is located in our Richland Field Office (RFO) in Richland, WA. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. Are you ready for the next step in your career as an expert on groundwater contamination? In the Lead Hydrogeologist role, you will work to predict contaminant plume migration, plume co-mingling, and sources of future groundwater contamination at the Hanford site. Your input will be crucial to all groundwater remediation efforts using a variety of technologies. Collaboration is essential as you will interface with representatives from affected Native American Tribes, the state of Oregon, and many interested Hanford stakeholders regarding cleanup activities. You will also be the expert liaison to Ecology managers and staff, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Program Mission: The Nuclear Waste Program’s mission is to lead the effective and efficient cleanup of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hanford Site; to ensure sound management of mixed hazardous wastes in Washington; and to protect the state’s air, water, and land at and adjacent to the Hanford Site. Tele-work options for this position: This position will be eligible for up to a 90% tele-work schedule.
