We are seeking a passionate and creative leader to join our team as a Lead Teacher. In this role, you will provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment for children. You will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support the whole child, focusing on their social/emotional, cognitive, physical, and language growth. A key part of this role is ensuring a safe and healthy space for children while fostering strong relationships with families and the community. Our program follows a public school calendar for Head Start and offers full-year childcare.

Skills

  • EEC Lead Preschool Teacher Certification required.
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Comfortable working with diverse backgrounds and communicating effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in Head Start or those who have been Head Start parents.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the program’s philosophy and all relevant regulations (EEC, Head Start, NAEYC, QRIS) for your classroom.
  • Lead and manage the classroom environment, ensuring it supports each child’s development.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive atmosphere among the team and maintain classroom compliance.
  • Participate in staff development and training opportunities to enhance your skills.
  • Communicate effectively with your supervisor and other staff, sharing important updates promptly.
  • Observe and assess children’s development, planning activities that meet their individual needs.
  • Monitor classroom resources, ensuring a well-maintained, safe, and organized environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the classroom and children’s progress.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, training sessions, and participate in parent functions.
  • Maintain communication with families, offering support and providing volunteer opportunities.
  • Actively supervise children at all times, ensuring their safety and engagement.
  • Participate in team meetings and effectively communicate with families and staff across various areas.
  • Adhere to confidentiality policies regarding client, employee, and agency information.
  • Ensure compliance with all program, agency, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in Early Childhood Education.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a classroom effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.

Education Requirements

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • EEC Lead Preschool Teacher Certification required.

Experience Requirements

  • Preference given to applicants with prior experience in Head Start or those who have been Head Start parents.
  • Experience in classroom management and child development assessment is essential.
