VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our fast-growing, AAHA-accredited, multi-doctor specialty and emergency/critical care practice in our Lab & Pharmacy Department. Skills

  • Active State of Nebraska License in Veterinary Technology
  • Excellent posology and clinical pathology skills
  • Ability to calculate drug dosages with accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient, professional, and high-quality service to DVMs and clients
  • Dispense prescribed medications according to professional standards and legal requirements
  • Calculate drug dosages and prepare medications
  • Review prescriptions issued by DVMs for accuracy
  • Maintain procedures concerning quality assurance and security of controlled substances
  • Report all controlled substances through the Nebraska PDMP within 24hrs
  • Draw blood samples, collect stool and urine samples, and perform laboratory tests
  • Maintain lab equipment and assist in running in-house lab work
  • Maintain hospital organization and cleanliness
  • Provide support to DVMs and LVTs as requested

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Strong understanding of veterinary technology language
  • Self-starter with organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Education Requirements

  • Valid LVT license in the State of Nebraska

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • State License in Veterinary Technology

Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred.
