U.S. Steel team: USS-UPI, LLC, a United States Steel Company, is a world-class ISO certified steel finishing facility located in Pittsburg, CA. UPI specializes in producing cold-rolled sheets, galvanized sheets, tin plate, and tin-free steel from hot-rolled coils supplied by other U.S. Steel facilities. The facility caters to sheet and tin mill product customers in the western United States, with an annual production capability of approximately 1.5 million tons.

Skills

  • Proficiency in mechanical maintenance, including hydraulics, lubrication, and pneumatics
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
  • Experience with welding (MIG or stick technology) and mechanical assembly
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance recording systems (e.g., MAXIMO)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, dismantle, assemble, and maintain mechanical and hydraulic machinery
  • Collaborate with a team of technicians to complete scheduled and emergency assignments
  • Evaluate mechanical maintenance components and address any issues
  • Analyze parts and procedures necessary for repairs
  • Maintain and operate various tools and equipment for repair tasks
  • Complete documentation and data entry in work management systems

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of heavy industrial mechanical experience preferred
  • Familiarity with various maintenance tools and techniques
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays

Education Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
  • College or Technical Electrical Trade Education with Electrical Certification is a plus

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • Technical degree or certification in a relevant field (preferred)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in mechanical maintenance in a heavy industrial setting
  • Experience with computerized maintenance systems is advantageous
