As a Patient Information Specialist, you will play a crucial role in gathering patient information by collecting demographic details through interviews with patients or their families. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the master patient index, initiating medical records, and ensuring the availability of records in a digital database. You will also be responsible for retrieving medical records, delivering charts to designated areas within the hospital, and keeping healthcare providers informed about the availability of requested records. Adherence to hospital guidelines and standards is essential to maintain quality results and protect the community.
