Compensation and Benefits

• Cadet Salary Range: \(25.53 - \)34.47 per hour
• Cadet Hiring Rate: $30.05 per hour
• After completing the academy, salary progresses as follows:
  • Step A: \(42.11 Hourly, \)87,598 Annually
  • Step B: \(43.58 Hourly, \)90,652 Annually
  • Step C: \(46.39 Hourly, \)96,494 Annually
  • Step D: \(49.41 Hourly, \)102,764 Annually
  • Step E: \(52.59 Hourly, \)109,395 Annually
  • Step F: \(58.13 Hourly, \)120,916 Annually

Skills

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Legally able to work in the United States
• Ability to maintain good physical condition
• Vision of ²⁰⁄₂₀ or correctable to ²⁰⁄₂₀
• No felony convictions or moral turpitude convictions
• No illegal drug usage in the last 5 years, including marijuana in the last year
• Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus

Responsibilities

• Attend POST academy full-time and complete all requirements
• Patrols assigned areas to enforce laws and maintain order
• Investigate illegal activities and gather evidence
• Respond to calls for service and assist the community
• Provide credible testimony in court and write detailed reports
• Participate in community-oriented policing projects

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Cadet will transition to Police Officer trainee position upon graduation from the academy
• Must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings
