The Nurse LPN/RN CSC provides direct and indirect patient care in the local Crisis Stabilization Center in a psychiatric capacity. This position involves maintaining standards of Professional Nursing Practice, participating as an interdisciplinary team member, and coordinating care for individuals experiencing behavioral crises. You will work collaboratively with healthcare team members to provide patient and family education, demonstrating competency in providing age-appropriate care to adults aged 18 and older, including geriatrics. This job is classified as Category I and may involve tasks with exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing care including health assessments, pain assessments, vital signs, applying dressings, and general daily care of individuals at the Crisis Stabilization Center
  • Administer medication, including medication pass, injections, and observing self-administration of medication
  • Manage medications including completing the MAR, updating the MAR, and counting controlled substances
  • Provide patient education regarding physical health and medications
  • Coordinate care with staff, residents, families, physicians, psychiatrists, hospitals, and pharmacies
  • Report and record observable changes in individuals’ behavior, attitude, and physical condition
  • Assist staff with various diagnostic and treatment procedures
  • Provide education on procedures and protocols to new employees
  • Participate in team and leadership meetings as assigned
  • Maintain effective verbal, written, and nonverbal communication skills
  • Provide direct patient care to adults, including those who may be verbally or physically agitated
  • Participate in mandatory overtime if needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • At least one year of psychiatric experience; experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred
  • Licensure as LPN or RN (valid in MO) required

Education Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • Nursing degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’s)

Experience Requirements

  • At least one year of psychiatric nursing experience preferred
