In this critical role, you will ensure that processes are well-controlled and continually improved. Your skills and initiative in problem-solving, auditing, procedure writing, measurement systems, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Six Sigma will be essential. A good familiarity with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard, current edition, is necessary to guide and assist coworkers in achieving company objectives. You will report to the Director of Technical & Quality Systems and may supervise Quality Technicians as assigned. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure and enhance the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) to meet quality goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure and improve the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 standards including document and revision control
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits
  • Lead corrective and preventive action initiatives
  • Perform calibration and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) of monitoring systems
  • Investigate and report quality issues daily
  • Provide training for personnel as appropriate
  • Coordinate weekend coverage for the Quality Department
  • Undertake other projects or tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Good familiarity and experience with ISO 9001 standard
  • Ability to enhance the QMS to meet higher standards
  • 2+ years of experience as a quality and/or process engineer in manufacturing
  • Experience in heavy manufacturing preferred
  • Strong competency in SPC, MSA, Auditing, and Calibration
  • Ability to write and revise procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering preferred but not required

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • Engineering degree or equivalent related experience

Experience Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans, Kaizen, SMED, and other lean tools preferred
