Job Description

Job Overview: Join our dedicated team as a Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a fully remote capacity, where your passion for education can make a significant impact on the lives of K-12 students with visual impairments. This role offers the opportunity to deliver specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, helping them to overcome learning challenges in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft and customize lesson plans to ensure students with visual impairments can fully engage with the curriculum and participate in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Modify educational materials using braille, large print, tactile graphics, and digital accessibility tools for better comprehension.
  • Collaborate with educational teams, including general and special education teachers, administrators, and families, to foster an inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Support the achievement of Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals by implementing strategically designed instructional methods.
  • Integrate assistive technologies such as screen readers, braille devices, and magnification tools to enrich the learning experiences of students.

Required Skills:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is mandatory.
  • Proven experience with visually impaired students in a school or virtual setting.
  • Proficiency in assistive technology, including screen readers and braille devices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively in a remote learning context.
  • Strong adaptability to adjust teaching strategies based on individual student needs in a virtual environment.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification.
  • Experience working with visually impaired students is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is required.
