We’re thrilled to welcome a passionate individual to help make rooftop solar energy the cornerstone of our nation’s energy transformation. As the Indiana Rural Associate, you will collaborate with a dedicated team to advance solar energy initiatives throughout Indiana. Your focus will be on rural organizing or working with members of Rural Electric Member Cooperatives (REMC). This full-time, one-year position has the potential for extension based on funding availability.

Skills

  • At least two years of experience in grassroots organizing, event planning, project management, or communications
  • Ability to engage with diverse groups and work independently in a remote environment
  • Proficient in computer skills, including online facilitation and social media
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement programs that help individuals and organizations go solar
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners and community members
  • Organize and engage with solar supporters across Indiana
  • Conduct research to support state solar goals and policies
  • Advocate for solar energy with legislators and local governments
  • Provide guidance for individuals and organizations interested in solar
  • Create educational resources for Indiana residents
  • Represent the program in coalitions and at public events
  • Build a community of solar advocates, particularly in REMC member-owner areas
  • Facilitate public education and volunteer engagement to support solar policies

Qualifications

  • Indiana residency
  • Willingness to travel (~25%) within Indiana and attend occasional biannual retreats in the U.S.
  • Experience working with rural communities (preferred)
  • Knowledge of energy, social, and environmental issues in Indiana (preferred)
