This position supports our Johnston & Murphy apparel group in Nashville, TN, with a hybrid working schedule requiring onsite presence most days. The role encompasses all phases of the design development process, from initial concept to production for the Johnston & Murphy men’s apparel collection. Primary design categories will include men’s wovens, knits, and polos, with some design work for pants, blazers, outerwear, and accessories. Collaboration with the product development and technical design teams is essential to develop innovative apparel ideas that align with the brand’s aesthetic.

Skills

• Highly efficient in CAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, and 3D software

Responsibilities

• Conduct market and trend research to identify new concepts, fits, fabrics, trims, and print/color directions
• Assist in identifying and designing key items with a strong brand identity
• Create unique prints and patterns and prepare artwork packages for vendors in CAD form
• Create 3D CADs for design reviews and presentations
• Develop new trim and packaging concepts in line with the brand’s identity
• Collaborate with the product and technical design team to set up tech packs with adopted sketches and trim details
• Analyze and assess fabric, print, and trim needs seasonally based on market analysis
• Assist in designing trend presentation materials and product line sheets

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study
• 5-7 years of related experience
• Strong knowledge of market trends and the ability to create cohesive collections
