The Senior GIS Analyst will play a crucial role within the Utilities Engineering Division of Orange County Government, responsible for supporting, enhancing, and developing Utilities technologies, applications, and custom tools. This key position maintains various applications for over 900 staff across multiple departments, including GIS, GPS, and regulatory compliance, and serves as a senior technical team member within the Engineering Business Systems Group.

Compensation and Benefits

• 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage GIS projects and initiatives
• Perform advanced data analysis to meet business requirements
• Troubleshoot and enhance existing systems and applications
• Develop or improve computer software applications as per specifications
• Document applications and provide user manuals
• Plan, test, and implement new software tools in alignment with IT standards
• Maintain and support Utilities hardware/software performance
• Represent technical committees and collaborate with various stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Five years of progressive experience in GIS data and technology
• At least one year of leadership experience in a relevant role
• A Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution

Education Requirements Credential Category

• Degrees must be accredited by USDE or CHEA; foreign degrees must be evaluated for equivalency.

Experience Requirements

• Five years of relevant experience in GIS technologies
• Experience in leading GIS projects and mentoring staff
• Familiarity with water and wastewater utilities is preferred
