Description

The Human Factors Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and testing of innovative cell analysis and preparation systems. You will leverage your expertise in user experience design (UXD) and human factors (HF) to enhance product development. By interfacing with customers and gathering essential insights, you will guide design recommendations and lead new UXD/HF initiatives within project teams. This position involves working primarily with in-vitro diagnostic flow cytometer analyzers and/or preppers.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $60.00/hr on W2
  • Duration: 12 Months with possible extension

Skills

  • Strong understanding of human factors engineering and usability principles
  • Experience working with regulated products (e.g. FDA, IEC 62366)
  • Proficiency in analyzing user needs through methods such as usability testing and contextual research
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and advocate for UXD
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, leadership, and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with tools such as task analyses, workflow diagrams, wireframes, and user error analyses

Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition, design, and execution of UXD/HF activities throughout product development
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to update UXD/HF processes for BDBs products
  • Advocate for customer needs in complex programs
  • Teach HF processes to cross-functional teams and junior HFE associates
  • Plan and execute usability testing and regulatory HF/UE work
  • Guide HF vendors and contractors in usability testing, user research, or industrial design

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Human Factors Engineering / Ergonomics, Usability Engineering, Cognitive/Experimental Psychology, Industrial Design, Engineering Psychology or equivalent degree
  • 5 years of industry experience analyzing user needs and translating them into design decisions
  • 1 year of experience guiding human factors activities on complex systems
  • Experience in medical devices and regulated environments (FDA, IEC 62366, AAMI HE75)
  • Proven ability to mentor cross-functional teams and influence without authority

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years in the industry
