1 Source is seeking a Network Engineer II to collaborate with contractors and federal staff at the Department of Energy (DOE). This role involves providing technical support in areas such as network architecture technology, interoperability, and integration. You will be responsible for developing technical analyses and research related to network architecture while performing general analyses on network interoperability topologies, technologies, interfaces, and protocols.

Skills

  • Proficient in defining requirements for designing and deploying heterogeneous network environments (Cloud Computing Network & On-Premises)
  • Extensive experience with routing and switching on Cisco and Juniper platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of Cloud Computing technologies (AWS, GovCloud, C2S)
  • Expertise in implementing automation best practices (Python/Ansible)
  • Strong analytical skills for cloud network and security improvements
  • Experience troubleshooting complex layer 2 and layer 3 network issues
  • Familiarity with project management tracking tools such as JIRA
  • Knowledge of COMSEC monitoring/inventory tools like GEM-X and GENOME
  • Ability to implement, upgrade, and configure network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds
  • Compliance with configuration management and change management documentation requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support on network-architecture technology and integration
  • Develop technical analyses, white papers, or research for network architecture
  • Analyze network interoperability topologies, technologies, interfaces, and protocols
  • Design the Cloud Computing Network stack for broad access and self-services across various Cloud Deployment Models
  • Design virtual networks and Cloud Optimized Storage solutions
  • Transition to new networks as required
  • Perform additional duties as necessary

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of telecommunications and Cloud Computing network architectures for Government applications
  • Proficient in network integration, interoperability, and implementation
  • Capability to work independently and guide Engineers on complex network architecture projects

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in network engineering
  • Proven expertise in managing and implementing network projects for governmental applications
