Description

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking experienced PowerBuilder contractor developers with over 5 years of experience for a 12-month engagement within the Engineering Application Services Department (EAS). This role focuses on enhancing and maintaining a mission-critical application known as HiCAMS, which is a custom client-server PowerBuilder application that tracks work, materials, and payments on construction projects for the North Carolina Division of Highways.

The initial tasks include coding and testing data windows to replace over 100 outdated sample test result spreadsheet formats. Additional responsibilities will involve coding/testing bug fixes and functional enhancements to the system.

The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of the standard development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, unit & system testing, and quality assurance testing. They will also be expected to design SharePoint and web-based solutions that support critical business processes in the transportation lifecycle.

Skills

• Experience as a PowerBuilder developer using PB10 or more recent versions
• Strong SQL skills (experience with Sybase or any database platform)
• Strong Microsoft Suite experience, particularly Excel
• Experience working in a remote software development environment
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and technical skills
• Positive interpersonal skills coupled with an independent, self-motivated work ethic
• Ability to work with a custom base-class
