The Senior R&D Scientist will initiate, coordinate, and implement new product initiatives for both new and existing products. This role collaborates with procurement, quality assurance, production, marketing, suppliers, and customers to effectively develop products. Responsibilities include creating product formulations, scaling up production, labeling, selecting raw materials, and overseeing all documentation from ideation to product launch and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Organize daily activities based on business priorities
  • Maintain accurate records of R&D materials and samples
  • Support and participate in plant line trials and production start-ups
  • Prepare samples for shipment and formulate bench-top samples
  • Engage in troubleshooting existing product formulas and processes
  • Coordinate with production on trials for ingredient changes
  • Develop nutritional information for product development
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules
  • Participate in necessary training to perform job responsibilities

Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years relevant experience in food preparation/food industry (preferably in confectionery)
  • Extensive leadership experience in R&D or QA
  • Ability to work with cross-functional departments
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field

Education Requirements Credential Category

  • B.S. in Food Science or a related discipline

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in the food industry, particularly in product development
  • Proven experience in leading projects and working collaboratively across departments
