Skills

  • 5+ years of experience as an abstractor/examiner at an advanced level, including online search experience.
  • Commercial search experience is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with various state guidelines and searching property tax jurisdictions online.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accurate and professionally formatted title reports.
  • Sound judgment in handling confidential borrower data.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools (Word and Excel).
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, analyze, and evaluate a wide range of property documents, including deeds, mortgages, tax records, liens, judgments, and more.
  • Determine property ownership and identify any encumbrances or potential issues.
  • Analyze chain of title and identify any defects or inconsistencies.
  • Prepare comprehensive property reports and title commitments, summarizing your findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or missing information in title documentation.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, realtors, lenders, and other stakeholders to exchange information and resolve title-related issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating with clients, answering inquiries, and providing updates.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an abstractor/examiner at an advanced level.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a related field is a plus.
