The Senior Assistant I - Underwriting role is a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience within a Managing General Agency (MGA). You will develop a specific understanding of how catastrophic modeling influences and supports various underwriting processes, including pricing, business planning, and risk management. This is a 12-month contract position based in Broomfield, CO with a hybrid work model after initial training.

Responsibilities

  • Service a book of business through the full policy lifecycle within established service standards.
  • Build relationships with agency partners and sales representatives to enhance risk classification, bind ratios, and sales volume.
  • Understand agency management, product distribution, and claims procedures to support growth and underwriting profit.
  • Create and maintain procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with producers via phone, email, and chat for underwriting inquiries.
  • Mentor and train less experienced team members.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various business units to develop process improvements and product enhancements.
  • Provide feedback for continuous process improvement.
  • Fill in for team members to ensure business continuity during peak periods.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • 3+ years of insurance or closely related office experience (preferred).
  • Successful completion of insurance and/or financial designations (preferred).
  • Experience with third-party catastrophe risk modeling services (preferred).
