We’re seeking a highly detail-oriented SEO Content Writer to join the TaxAct content team on a 6-month temporary basis. This role supports an increased production schedule surrounding upcoming tax law changes and high-demand content initiatives. You’ll help us keep content fresh, accurate, and search-optimized across our blog and related platforms.

The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and editor with experience in WordPress, SEO content optimization tools like Clearscope, and a strong eye for accuracy and clarity. A background in financial or tax topics is helpful but not required — curiosity and precision matter most.

Skills

• Experience writing and editing for web, ideally in a content marketing or SEO role
• Proficiency with WordPress CMS (creating, formatting, and publishing content)
• Familiarity with SEO principles, including keyword research, metadata, and on-page optimization
• Strong attention to detail and ability to fact-check and follow brand style guides
• Excellent written communication and organizational skills
• Experience using content optimization tools (e.g., Clearscope, MarketMuse, SurferSEO) preferred

Responsibilities

• Update and optimize existing blog posts for accuracy, clarity, and SEO performance
• Write 2–3 new long-form blog posts per week (1,200–1,500 words each) based on SEO briefs
• Implement SEO best practices within WordPress, including keyword optimization and content structure updates
• Collaborate with internal SMEs and the SEO Manager to ensure compliance and factual accuracy of all content
• Use content optimization tools to analyze keyword opportunities and improve content quality scores
• Maintain a rapid publishing cadence, completing assignments within 3–4 days when needed
• Proofread and QA content for grammar, style, and factual accuracy before publishing
• Coordinate with web operations and analytics teams for performance tracking and technical SEO checks

Qualifications

• Experience writing and editing for web in a content marketing or SEO role
• Proficiency with WordPress CMS
• Familiarity with SEO principles and content optimization tools
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
