You will play a pivotal role in turning our vision into reality and changing the lives of children and families across the country, and ultimately, the world. Working under the guidance of the Assistant Director for .org and Parent Advocacy/Support at the Center, you will lead efforts to develop and manage engaging programming for parent engagement and support, while facilitating our vibrant online parent community. Your Key Responsibilities and Expectations: Cultivate a robust parent support model that engages and supports the parent community at every stage of their journey, utilizing multiple avenues and innovative approaches. Collaborate with experts to develop comprehensive programming for parents, providing in-depth learning about , advocacy skills, and emotional insights. Coordinate and manage all aspects of parent training and programming, including securing speakers, managing registrations, conducting outreach, facilitating programs, and facilitating peer-to-peer support. Create resources and advocacy tools that empower parents throughout their journey, aligning with their participation in parent programming. Foster and guide the Now Parent Facebook group, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, engaging with the community, providing trusted information, and ensuring a positive experience. Identify opportunities to create new content resources based on insights and conversations within the Now parent community. Serve as the primary point of contact for direct parent inquiries, offering valuable support and guidance. Support content development for Now and contribute to the Now social media strategy. Your Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience in managing projects from inception to implementation. Strong background in working with parents and families of children with disabilities, with extensive knowledge of Cortical/Cerebral Visual Impairment.. Personal experience as a parent of a child with is highly desirable. Proficiency in managing online communities, employing effective moderation techniques and strategies, and establishing consistent rules. Excellent digital communication skills, adept at building trust with online audiences. Exceptional time management and project planning abilities. Creativity, flexibility, and an eagerness to learn and grow. Ability to build rapport, collaborate across teams and organizations, and foster an environment of trust and collaboration. Demonstrated diplomatic skills in navigating diverse perspectives within the parent and professional community. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in social work, education, communications, or a related field preferred. A master's degree in education, social work, or experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired is highly valued. Minimum of three years of relevant work experience, preferably in a disability advocacy setting. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Effective oral communication skills for live virtual events and regular use of phone and email are crucial. Comfortable using a computer for extended periods while sitting. Occasional regional and national travel to conferences may be required. School office environment with a moderate noise level.
