Position Overview: As a Tax Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the tax function, demonstrating a deep understanding of accounting and reporting standards, and providing strategic leadership in various tax-related areas. The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, managerial skills, and the ability to cultivate client relationships. Key Responsibilities: Technical Expertise: Demonstrate thorough technical knowledge of accounting and reporting standards, specifically in areas such as flow-through entities (<$150M), cash taxpayer issues, and C-Corporations (<$50M). Identify tax risk management issues and propose effective solutions through research and collaboration, adhering to AICPA standards. Review and Oversight: Conduct comprehensive reviews of tax procedures, engagement workpapers, and financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate completion of top-level tax reviews of returns. Review communications to clients for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with Firm and professional guidelines. Team Management: Oversee tax technology, processes, procedures, and scheduling. Address advanced technical accounting queries from team members and upper-level client management. Supervise, train, and mentor tax staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Client Relations: Serve as the primary client contact and liaison for complex issues that require resolution. Communicate effectively with clients, developing positive relationships with client personnel. Take a lead role in client and team meetings, contributing new ideas and strategic initiatives. Practice Development: Demonstrate a logical and thoughtful approach to practice development, identifying opportunities to sell value-added services. Utilize existing networks and cultivate strong relationships in the local area. Industry Awareness: Stay current on technical and industry developments, standards, and regulations. Evaluate potential impacts on client engagements and provide strategic insights. Qualifications: CPA designation required. years of progressive tax experience in a managerial or leadership role. In-depth knowledge of accounting and reporting standards. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
