Opportunity College is looking for a Teaching Assistant to assist with the instruction of their Career Jumpstart Fellowship (Junior Web Developer cohorts). The Teaching Assistant will be working with the Director of Technology Programs, who will be the lead instructor, to ensure that students understand the content, receive timely feedback and grading, and feel well-supported in the program. The position is hourly and remote, with approximately 10-20 hours per week from May to December 2023, except for June-September 2023, when the commitment will be full-time. The Teaching Assistant's primary responsibilities include supporting the Director of Technology Programs with instructional duties, grading students' assignments, providing support to students, and helping them with their job searches. Candidates should have 1-2 years of industry experience and/or educational experience in web development, computer science, or related fields, as well as experience working with students from low-income households or who are first-generation college students. Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication skills, intercultural competence, and the ability to foster teamwork, are essential, as well as strong intrapersonal skills, including conscientiousness, professionalism, growth mindset, problem-solving ability, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
