Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of underwriters
• Oversee the evaluation of new and renewal business
• Provide technical expertise on complex or high-value accounts
• Monitor team performance metrics and implement strategies to meet departmental goals
• Collaborate with marketing, claims, and risk management teams
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners
• Analyze market trends and adjust underwriting strategies
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies
• Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluations of team members
• Ability to travel up to 40% as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial underwriting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or ARM are highly desirable
