VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant - Emergency & Critical Care to join our skilled technician team at our AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency/multi-specialty practice in Omaha, NE. Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient restraint
  • Clean, tidy, restock, and organize treatment areas
  • Help clients and patients, including lifting and cleaning up after pets
  • Observe and maintain the cleanliness and well-being of hospitalized patients; communicate updates to technician staff
  • Assist doctors and nurses with procedures as requested and allowed by state law
  • Check animals in cages to ensure bedding is clean, change litter boxes, and walk dogs as needed
  • Prepare and serve food to patients as instructed
  • Help restrain animals for blood draws, IV catheters, ultrasounds, x-rays, treatments, and examinations
  • Prepare laboratory samples for courier pickup and assist in running in-house lab work
  • Maintain clean treatment tables and exam rooms
  • Contribute to hospital organization and cleanliness

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine preferred, but not required
  • Team player with a friendly, outgoing attitude

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Enrollment in an accredited LVT program is a plus but not required
