We believe “everyone should have a safe, healthy, and affordable place to live, grow, and raise a family.” In that vein, the role of the Volunteer Coordinator is the main point of contact with the public and is vital to helping Habitat, St. Charles carry out its mission through volunteer retention. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all volunteer activities within the organization, including but not limited to recruiting, building, and maintaining relationships, scheduling, managing, and tracking volunteer hours, and regularly reporting data. Responsibilities

  • Manage, recruit, and coordinate volunteer efforts for the construction site and Restore.
  • Increase and maintain volunteer opportunities within the organization.
  • Motivate, inspire, and retain volunteers willing to donate their time.
  • Lead and coordinate volunteers for fundraising events.
  • Work with the Marketing Communications Specialist to promote volunteer opportunities through print and electronic media.
  • Conduct construction site visits on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to assist with volunteer meet/greet/check-in.
  • Order and coordinate pick-up/delivery of continental breakfast and lunch for sponsored groups on the job site.
  • Coordinate, track, and maintain all volunteer events/activities through Giveffect (Volunteer Management Software).
  • Lobby for and retain partners for the Bread Brakers Club to secure lunch donations for sponsored volunteer participants.
  • Document and track appropriate volunteer statistical information and other volunteer program records as requested.
  • Give or send thank you cards to all volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in volunteer coordination or related field
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
  • Familiarity with volunteer management software preferred

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Experience in volunteer management or community organization preferred
  • Previous work in a nonprofit environment is a plus
